This is only happening for me in the admin section, not on the front end. I think we shouldn't change the IP address when changing the post status, except when it goes from a draft -> published.

I forgot attachments don't comment related things -- this now has a patch for topics and replies.

In 5850:

Admin: Add hidden_post_status field back to topic & reply metaboxes, and use draft or current post status as value.

This changeset fixes a bug that caused topics & replies to be marked as edited when moderated via wp-admin.
