Hi there, I'm just wonder if there was a high-level plan on how this might be implemented? Do you anticipate that guest accounts comment anonymously and/or use their WordPress, Twitter, Google, or Facebook accounts?

I'm really looking forward to this feature!

I really like bbPress and this feature would be great to have your discussions in the forum but the team is quite busy and I do not think it will make it into 2.6 but I still hope that someone may provide a patch for that :-)

Is there any update as to whether this will be able to make it into 2.6? I'm also curious about fatpat76's question on unregistered users.

Thanks! Really looking forward to this.

Bumping to 2.7 to get 2.6 out the door

Just wanted to say that I'm really looking forward to this feature and that, if you could, it would be absolutely perfect if there could be an option to make an entirely new forum for each new post rather than just one forum topic.

The way my site is built, I want to create a kind of project using posts, and each post will get a forum attached to it. It would be amazing I could link the forum to each post so that I could change all the setting associated with forums.

I don't think simply having a new topic per post would allow me to do that.

I second the request to have the capability of not only replacing the comment section with a topic, but the ability to make that comment become a forum. I envision publishing classes and the blog post would then introduce a continuing list of topics related to that class. It seems like zippy courses plugin has taken this into account in some way.

Unfortunately, this looks like a never ending story...

Thats's a pitty. This would be so helpful as the "bbPress Topics for Posts" plugin is way out of date.

FYI to anyone following this, this plugin achieves this functionality already. It was defunct for a while, but was revived in the past year. I'm helping the new maintainer to add custom post type support, and fix a few other things. Should be released in the next week or so.

@nickchomey Neat!

Since this is a feature that many would like to see native to bbPress, have you given any thought to the idea of how best to merge a plugin like that into bbPress proper?

@johnjamesjacoby None at all as I'm not a really much of a developer. The maintainer is more savvy, but is time-limited. But I'm sure that he'd be interested in talking to you guys for a proper integration - I'll mention it to him. Though the code is all there if you guys wanted to just integrate it - my/his impression is that it could be done better if built from the ground-up, but it does the job.

Though, I use BuddyBoss, so am interested in a standalone plugin continuing to exist.

@johnjamesjacoby I mentioned this to the maintainer and integrating the plugin into bbPress isn't something he's really able to put any time towards. I wouldn't be of any use either.

But you're more than welcome to use the code as a starting point for a native feature!
