Import/Export Functions

I know mdawaffe mentioned in an earlier post that he was working on import/export function for bbPress for next major release. This would be great to use the Wordpress import/export structure as then the functionality between WP and bbPress would be significant!

After thinking about it, it would be nice to have a format that is specific to bbPress for import/export. I would imagine that a plugin to have same format as WP export of RSS would be simple enough. Went through the attachment and I think it looks good.

Not to bug mdawaffe, but any luck moving the import/export functions forward? I have a bbPress forum that I would like to merge into an existing one and the thought of adding the users manually and posting as them and then changing the dates on everything is enough to ensure it won't happen :)

I definitely second this moving forward. It'd be great to have some ways to import phpbb and what not, to save everyone some trouble.

Has anyone taken a look at this? I know that this would be a great thing if we could continue on working on this particular functionality!

As much as we'd all like to see this, there's no way this will be ready for the next version unless someone has alot of code handy. Lets move back to 1.5 version and focus on achievable goals.

Closing as wontfix, since the bbPress plugin for WordPress will give us this functionality for free.
